Mission and Objectives

The Marching Band is a spirit organization as well as a music education program. The band performs at football games, pep rallies, parades and participates in an active competition season; performing in state and local marching band competitions in the fall.  

In order to achieve and maintain our Honor Band status, superior results at the Virginia Band & Orchestra Director’s Association (VBODA) state marching band assessment are necessary and strived for. Bands are graded on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being Superior, 2 Excellent, 3 Good, and so forth. The marching band assessment in the fall combined with the concert band assessment in the spring will determine the Honor Band status.

It is our goal to instill in the students a sense of pride in their school and community, dedication in becoming better musicians, responsibility in their actions, honor and integrity. All of these skills will not only help them now but in their future endeavors as well.
